PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimal medium for proliferation of mammalian cells and production of polypeptides.SOLUTION: The production of polypeptides is performed using a cell culture medium having a characteristic molar ratio between sodium ions and potassium ions of 10:1 to 1:1, preferably 8:1 to 6:1. It also includes temperature variations and/or pH fluctuations to further optimize the proliferation of cells and the yield of products.
