A medical imaging system for measuring a medical image is disclosed. The medical imaging system comprises a display unit for presenting one or more images of an object. An image capturing unit is configured to capture multiple gestures made by a user at a distance from the display unit. An image measurement unit is communicably coupled to the image capturing unit and the image measurement unit is configured to generate measurement events based on one or more gestures of the multiple gestures. Based on the measurement events image measurement unit performs measurement of the object. The measurements events correspond to steps associated with measurement of the object. FIG. 2
