PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil-in-water type emulsion having excellent sense of use and preservation stability by formulating ceramides without crystallizing the ceramides and to provide a method for producing the oil-in-water type emulsion by which the ceramides can be stably formulated without crystallizing the ceramides.
SOLUTION: The oil-in-water type emulsion is produced by formulating (A) a 10-30C carboxylic acid and/or a salt thereof, (B) a base, (C) the ceramides, (D) water and (E) a surfactant (except the surfactant derived from the component (A)) while regulating the ratio (mass ratio) of the formulated components (E) to (C) so as to be 0 or more and less than 2.
