The purpose of the present invention is to provide an auxiliary tool capable of inserting an endotracheal tube reliably, quickly and easily into the trachea of a mouse without using an expensive instrument, and to provide a method for inserting an endotracheal tube for a mouse using the same. An auxiliary tool 1 of the present invention comprises: a shaft member 11 having a shaft body 110 having inside thereof a through hole 111 through which an endotracheal tube t is to be inserted； and a mask member 21 that is connected to one end of the shaft member 11 and is to be abutted against at least part of the larynx opening periphery in the pharynx.
