PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bed occupancy state measurement method which eliminates the need to measure the weight of a bed as a tare value when starting measurement.SOLUTION: The measurement method includes bed-leaving-related determination steps which determine whether a subject H on a bed 30 leaves the bed or not by means of an initial measurement mode and a normal measurement mode using a load value outputted from a load detecting means 1 arranged on the lower side of the bed 30. In the bed-leaving-related determination steps S11-S15 of the initial measurement mode, bed-leaving-related determination is carried out on the basis of a value that is the load value from which the weight of the bed 30 is not subtracted.
