The present disclosure is related to the provision of additives based on polymer, zinc oxide, nano-zinc oxide, calcium carbonate, nano-calcium carbonate, silver nano-particles and copper nano-particles allowing its incorporation by a dilution process in high impact polystyrene and other thermoplastic polymers to provide broad-spectrum microbicidal properties. The combination of the particle size and the intrinsic properties of each component of the additive, play an important role in obtaining an additive with broad-spectrum microbicidal effect at low concentrations therefore its impact on the polymer properties are not affected during application. The additive made in the present invention is homogeneously dispersed in high impact polystyrene and other thermoplastic polymers through the mechanical mixing process of the molten polymer. Applications developed with the additive of the present invention have microbicidal capacity in the contact surface and can be processed by different transformation processes of thermoplastic polymers, such as extrusion, injection, molding, rotomolding. The present invention proposes several additive formulations with nanoparticles having microbicidal properties and describes processes for obtaining each component in their different sizes and concentrations.
