An apparatus for the physiotherapeutic treatment of arthrofibrosis of the knee comprises a base 12 for supporting a foot of a patient a connection 26 at one end of the base so that it can be connected to a chair leg and to restrict movement of the base relative to the chair a toe abutment portion 20 movable along the base and clamping means 22, 24 for clamping or locking the abutment in the desired position. The base may comprise guide means, such as grooves or rails 14, which allow the abutment to slide along the base. The base may additionally be connected to a second chair leg 36 via an elasticated tension cord or tether 34. An anti-slip mat [40, fig. 3] may be placed underneath the base. In use, the patient sits on the chair, and places the toes of one foot against the abutment means which maintains the knee in flexion, and repeated stretching using the apparatus may help improve the range of motion/movement (ROM) of the knee.
