The invention relates to a method and apparatus for establishing the magnitude and direction of the force vector acting on a material during the patients chewing process, in order to carry out quality dental works. The claimed method consists in associating the direction of the force with the direction of propagation of the light passing through said material, namely with the normal to the tangent plane in the point of action of the force onto the surface of the material and the intensity of the force with the magnitude of the light flux in said point. The claimed apparatus comprises a source of radiation together with a radiation diffuser, an optical system which measures the magnitude of the light flux and a mechanism for positioning the optical system said mechanism consists of a subassembly for horizontal advance, a subassembly for the pivoting motion and a subassembly for vertical advance.Invenţia se referă la o metodă şi la un aparat de stabilire a mărimii şi direcţiei vectorului forţă, ce acţionează asupra unui material, în procesul de masticaţie al unui pacient, pentru realizarea unor lucrări dentare de calitate. Metoda conform invenţiei constă în asocierea direcţiei forţei cu direcţia de propagare a luminii ce trece prin acel material, adică cu normala la planul tangent în punctul de acţiune a forţei pe suprafaţa materialului, iar intensitatea forţei cu mărimea fluxului luminos în acel punct. Aparatul conform invenţiei este alcătuit dintr-un izvor de radiaţie, împreună cu un difuzor de radiaţie, un sistem optic ce măsoară mărimea fluxului luminos şi un mecanism de poziţionare a sistemului optic iar acest mecanism este compus dintr-un subansamblu pentru avans orizontal, un subansamblu pentru mişcarea de pivotare şi un subansamblu pentru avans vertical.
