A novel gastro-retentive floating drug delivery system for the delivery of curcumin 0-cyclodextrin complex for oral administration is disclosed. The formulation is based on effervescent floating drug delivery system and floats on gastric juice thereby remaining in the stomach for an extended period of time. The present invention also provides process of preparing such dosage form. This novel pharmaceutical dosage form may be used for the treatment of cancer particularly of stomach and other diseases that might benefit from the effects of curcumin p-cyclodextrin complex.
