PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article that is made less likely to bend in a protruding middle height part by compression toward lateral inside from both legs in a sleeping position and that is made less likely to cause liquid leak.SOLUTION: An absorbent article has a longitudinally long absorbent core 41. The absorbent core 41 has a middle height area 43 in a central part of an excretion counter part B in a lateral direction. The middle height area 43 is greater in thickness and higher in basis weight than a peripheral area 44 of the absorbent core 41. The absorbent core 41 has a groove part 45 less in thickness than the peripheral area 44 and lower in basis weight than the peripheral area 44.
