The present invention relates to methods for the printing of chocolate with food grade ink, comprising the steps of treating a surface of plastic film with plasma, printing the plasma-treated surface of said plastic film with food grade ink, and optionally drying the printed plastic film, wherein the food grade ink is suitable for the printing of chocolate, and wherein the printed plastic film is used for the printing of chocolate by transfer printing. Furthermore the present invention also relates to a plasma-treated plastic film comprising a print of food grade ink.
