PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe anti-inflammatory agent and a safe antioxidant maintaining effects over a long period of time.
SOLUTION: (1) The anti-inflammatory agent comprises a siderophore as an active ingredient. The anti-inflammatory agent is effective for prophylaxis or therapy of inflammations in the alimentary canal, particularly when orally administered. Deferriferrichrysin is typically cited as the siderophore. The deferriferrichrysin is a safe substance ingested as an ingredient of Sake from the old times by humankind. (2) The antioxidant comprises the siderophore as the active ingredient. It is considered that a mechanism other than chelating actions is concerned with antioxidizing actions of the siderophore.
