PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation with membrane formability, which has excellent coatability allowing a sufficient amount to be applied at a lick, even accommodated in a container equipped with a small brush having a prescribed size.SOLUTION: An external preparation with membrane formability comprising (A) a monohydric alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, (B) an ester of a monocarboxylic acid having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and a monohydric alcohol having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, (C) nitrocellulose, and (D) glycyrrhetinic acid or a derivative thereof and/or a salt thereof is accommodated in a container having a vessel body and a lid part equipped with an application member entering the inside of the vessel body. The application member has a grip part and a brush part disposed at an end of the grip part. The length of the brush part from the base end to the tip end is 11 to 13 mm, and the tip width is 1.5 to 4.5 mm.
