The invention relates to biotechnology, more particularly genetic engineering, and can be used to treat neoplasms of various origins. The multi-profile promoter enables, inside cancer cells, gene expression of an enzyme that is capable of converting a non-toxic compound, namely a prodrug, into a toxin inside cancer cells but not in normal cells, wherein said multi-profile promoter contains a collection of recognition sites of transcription factor proteins which is altered or broader in comparison to that of known promoters, the necessary set of transcription factor proteins existing in the majority of cancer cells but not in normal cells, and said multi-profile promoter is in the form of a tandem combination of BIRC5 and TERT promoters. An expression vector containing the multi-profile promoter is also described. A method for selectively killing cancer cells but not normal cells is proposed which leads to the synthesis of toxins inside cancer cells, as is a method for treating cancer in mammals which involves administering a therapeutically effective amount of the vector according to the invention. The invention makes it possible, using the multi-profile promoter, to direct enzyme synthesis in such a way that it leads to the conversion, inside a cancer cell, of a prodrug delivered from outside into a toxin that causes the killing of a wider variety of tumours by comparison with known analogues.Linvention concerne les biotechnologies, plus particulièrement le génie génétique, et peut être utilisée pour traiter des néoplasmes dorigines diverses.
