Compositions and methods are disclosed for imparting a long-wearing color to keratin fibers, including hair. More specifically, the invention relates to cosmetic compositions and methods for improving retention of particulate materials, such as pigments, on hair to artificially color the hair and/or to impart other aesthetic benefits to the hair. The compositions comprise at least one aminosilicone polymer having at least one diamine functional group, and a functional group equivalent weight (FGEW) from about 1,000 to about 2,000 g/mol and a non-spherical particulate material, preferably a pigment or a lake.
