In a first aspect, a safety pen needle assembly is provided herein whichincludes ahub and a needle fixed to the hub which extends distally from the hub so as todefine an injectionlength. A first shield is slidable relative to the hub from a first state, inwhich the shield covers atleast a substantial portion of the injection length of the needle, to a secondstate, in which at leasta substantial portion of the injection length of the needle is exposed； and, asecond shield isslidable from a first position, in which the shield covers the proximal end ofthe needle, to asecond position, in which the proximal end of the needle is exposed. A biasingelement isdisposed between the first and second shields configured to simultaneouslyurge the first shielddistally and the second shield proximally.
