The present invention relates to a switch-operating mechanism. In particular, the present invention relates to a switch-operating mechanism for a power tool, such as a pruning tool. We describe a switch-operating mechanism for a powered tool comprising a working head (14) having first and second cutter members (15,20), wherein the switch-operating mechanism further comprises a lever (13) moveable between first, second and third operative positions. In operation, positioning of the lever in the first operative position provides a power off mode in which the power supply is disconnected movement of the lever into the second operative position causes the at least one of the cutter members (15) to move to a first blade position and movement of the lever into the third operative position causes the at least one of the cutter members (15) to move to a second blade position.
