The invention relates to a device (1) for assisting the movement of an animal comprising a carriage (2) and means (6) for coupling the animal to said carriage (2). The coupling means (6) comprise a harness (7), positionable around the body of the animal, and formed of a rollable strip provided with two through-holes each forming a leg passage, and means (15) of maintaining the strip (14) in the wound state, said strip (14) being, in the wound state, in the form of a sheath open at each of its ends and provided, between these two ends (71, 72 ), said lug passages, this harness (7) being equipped with connecting means (9) couplable / disengageable with complementary connecting means (10) carried by said carriage (2). Les moyens (6) de couplage comprennent un harnais (7), positionnable autour du corps de l'animal, et formé d'une bande enroulable munie, de deux orifices traversants formant chacun un passage de patte, et de moyens (15) de maintien de la bande (14) à l'état enroulé, ladite bande (14) se présentant, à l'état enroulé, sous forme d'un fourreau ouvert à chacune de ses extrémités et muni, entre ces deux extrémités (71, 72), desdits passages de patte, ce harnais (7) étant équipé de moyens (9) de liaison couplables/désaccouplables avec des moyens (10) de liaison complémentaires portés par ledit chariot (2).
