The present invention relates to a method for selecting a high-quality seed of a cypress tree using hyperspectral image technology. The method comprises: a step of measuring a spectrum for a cypress tree seed by hyperspectral image photographing to obtain spectrum data; a step of exposing the cypress tree seed which has undergone the spectrum measurement to running water, and then performing a germination test to inspect a germination status; a step of preprocessing the obtained spectrum data to prevent the spectrum data from being contaminated by a noise signal generated during hyperspectral image photographing; a step of distinguishing seeds that have germinated from those that have not for cypress tree seeds from the spectrum data which have undergone the preprocessing step by using principal component analysis and partial least squares-discriminant analysis; and a step of using an analysis technique of variable importance on projection to analyze an absorption wavelength range for determining the germination status of a cypress tree seed to obtain an absorption wavelength region. According to the present invention, spectrum data are obtained by hyperspectral image photographing. The spectrum data are preprocessed and multivariate analysis is performed on the spectrum data.
