PURPOSE: An image processing method and apparatus, and a medical image system adopting the same are provided to obtain a diagnostic image in which resolution is high by emphasizing abnormal tissue. CONSTITUTION: A total thickness estimating unit(810) estimates the total thickness of a subject from a radiological image of two and more energy bands. The radiological image of two and more energy bands is provided from a fixed subject. A diagnostic image generating unit(830) compares the total thickness of the subject and thickness of a localized region of the radiological image. The diagnostic image generating unit extracts an interest region and creates the diagnostic image.영상 처리 방법 및 장치와 이를 채용한 의료영상시스템이 개시되어 있다. 영상 처리 장치에서 전체 두께 추정부는 적어도 두가지 물질로 이루어지는 소정 피사체로부터 얻어지는 적어도 두가지 에너지 대역의 방사선 영상으로부터 상기 피사체의 전체 두께를 추정한다. 진단영상 생성부는 추정된 전체 두께와 방사선 영상에서 국부 영역의 두께를 비교하고, 비교결과에 따라서 관심 영역을 추출하여 진단영상을 생성한다.
