Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zum Erzeugen eines tomosynthetischen Röntgenbildes von einer Brust eines Patienten sowie auf ein nach diesem Verfahren betriebenes Mammographiegerät, bei denen zeitlich nacheinander zwei Tomosynthese-Scans mit voneinander verschiedenen Röntgenstrahlenergien durchgeführt werden, wobei in einer Verfahrensvariante bei einem der zwei Tomosynthese-Scans aus zumindest zwei bei diesem Tomosynthese-Scan aufgenommenen Projektionsbildern ein synthetisches Projektionsbild erzeugt wird, das einer Projektion mit einem Projektionswinkel entspricht, mit dem ein Projektionsbild bei dem anderen Tomosynthese-Scan aufgenommen worden ist, und bei dem aus dem synthetischen Projektionsbild und dem bei dem anderen Tomosynthese-Scan aufgenommenen Projektionsbild ein Differenzbild erzeugt wird, das zur Rekonstruktion des tomosynthetischen Röntgenbildes herangezogen wird.
