PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hair treatment methods which can moderate the curly hair, set the phase of the moderated curly hair uniformly, give good hair-arranging properties, can nearly maintain the hair in the style after a hair treatment even if shampooing is repeated, and further can make the hair after treatment soft, have natural lightness, and hard to entangle.SOLUTION: A hair treatment method comprises the following steps. Step (i): applying a first composition containing a carboxylic acid with an inorganic value of 250 to 450 and an organic value of 50 to 250 or a salt thereof to the hair, as a component (A). Step (ii): leaving to stand the hair to which the first composition is applied, at 15 to 100°C for 15 seconds to 60 minutes.
