PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer having in vivo degradability and biocompatibility, being capable of ensuring visibility inside a living body and storage stability outside a living body, and being suitable for, in particular, surgical suture and the like, and to provide a method of producing the same.SOLUTION: In a method for obtaining a polymer with a weight average molecular weight of 3,000-20,000, the polymer is obtained by addition reaction of a phthalocyanine compound, which has a metal atom selected from the group consisting of a silicon atom, a germanium atom, and an aluminum atom as the central metal, to the terminal of a polymer selected from the group consisting of a polylactic acid, a polyglycolic acid, and a copolymer of them.
