PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-septic sterilizer which exhibits high antimicrobial activities against a wide range of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts, and molds and exhibits higher antimicrobial activities than those of 1,2-alkane diols and glycerol monoalkyl ethers having been used as anti-septic sterilizing technical products such as cosmetics, and to provide a cosmetic, a medicine and a food which contain the anti-septic sterilizer, do not need to contain a conventional antiseptic such as paraben, can reduce the content of the anti-septic sterilizer, because the anti-septic sterilizer has an excellent antimicrobial activity, and can obtain extremely high safety.SOLUTION: The anti-septic sterilizer contains a 1,2,3-alkane triol represented by general formula (1): HOCH2-CH(-OH)-CH(-OH)-(CH2)n-CH3 [wherein, (n) is an integer of 5 to 11] as an active ingredient.
