PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system for breeding chicken for meat such as broiler, which is capable of efficiently increasing the body weight of chickens.SOLUTION: An illumination system 10 which may be used for breeding chickens, includes: a light source unit 21 that emits light the emission peak wavelength of which is 480-580 nm and a control unit 31 that controls the light source unit 21 to emit light to illuminate a breeding area of chickens in an early period of breeding of the chickens. The control unit 31 also controls the light source unit 21 to emit white light to chickens in a later breeding period.
