Disclosed is an animal messaging system. The system is comprised of an animal monitoring means (105), at least one source of additional information (145) and a processor (130). The animal monitoring means (105) provides data on the activities of an animal. The at least one source of additional information (145) provides information relating to the animals behaviour and/or environment. The processor (130) identifies an activity from the data provided by the animal monitoring means (105) and establishes a relationship between the activity and the additional information. The processor (130) then generates a message expressing the identified activity and the established relationship.
