PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerator for heavy metal absorption into plant which is less in the possibility of causing environmental problems, and allows a lot of heavy metals in soil to be efficiently absorbed into plant inexpensively, and also to provide a method of purifying soil using the same.
SOLUTION: The accelerator for heavy metal absorption into plant contains alginic acid, its salt or their decomposed products and is to be added to soil containing heavy metal.
