PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gelatin capsule coating composition that has enhanced impact resistance while maintaining the transparent feeling and adhesion resistance.SOLUTION: A gelatin capsule coating composition is based on gelatin, contains glycerol as a plasticizer, and further contains polyvinyl pyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol or both of them as specific materials of water-soluble polymers. There is also provided a soft capsule agent using the gelatin capsule coating composition. In the production of the soft capsule agent, a special production process is not required, so that the production cost is not increased.
