A system and method of treating and protecting aninjured claw of an animal. A claw cap is provided. Theclaw cap is an elastomeric cap that defines aninterior compartment. A medicated compound may beprovided within the interior compartment of the clawcap. The injured claw is advanced into the claw capthrough the open end of the claw cap. The injured clawis exposed to the medicated compound within theinterior compartment of the claw cap. The claw capthen engages the exterior of the injured claw with afriction fit. The claw cap remains on the injured clawas the animal resumes normal activities. The claw capis removed once the medication has affected asignificant degree of healing.
