PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection device and a detection method, enabling allergic reaction in the skin to be suitably evaluated.SOLUTION: The detection device comprises a light irradiation part 1 irradiating a patch stuck to the skin 60 with terahertz light, a light receiving part 2 receiving reflected light of terahertz light, and an output part outputting information concerning cytokine as a detection object gained from reflected light . The output part outputs preferably information concerning the content of TARC (thymus and activation-regulated chemokine).
