PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for hair cosmetics and hair cosmetics which suppress the waving or bouncing of hair which is easily caused by the damaged hair and have an excellent effect of imparting excellent smoothness, good combing property and moist feeling to hair.SOLUTION: There is provided: a composition for hair cosmetics which comprises 5 to 30 mass% of N-(3-stearylalkylammonio-2-hydroxypropyl)hydrolyzed keratin (A) represented by the formula (I) and 0.1 to 30 mass% of one or two or more alcohols (B) selected from a monohydric alcohol having 2 to 3 carbon atoms and a dihydric or trihydric alcohol having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and is constituted so that the mass ratio (A)/(B) between (A) and (B) is 1:0.1 to 1:1 and a hair cosmetic by incorporating the composition for hair cosmetics.
