The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel composition and solvent for facilitating the production of a brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and a method for facilitating the production of BDNF. According to the present invention, a composition for facilitating the production of BDNF including cacao polyphenol and an agent for facilitating the production of BDNF are provided. The present invention also provides a method for facilitating the production of BDNF, the method including administering, for at least 2 weeks, a daily dose of cacao polyphenol, which is effective for facilitating the production of BDNF.
