Stimuli are produced by means of an inductive storage device, using free electric oscillations as a test signal, said oscillations being generated in a resonant circuit having the following configuration: active electrode - inductive storage device - passive electrode - interelectrode pads - active electrode. In one variant of the method, the electrodes are mounted successively across the entire area of a region of skin； in another variant, the electrodes are moved uniformly across the entire area of a chosen region of skin. After a set period of between 0.1 and 0.5 seconds following each detection of contact between the electrodes and the skin, the values of the parameters obtained are averaged and recorded. A region that is optimal for cardioversion therapy is determined on the basis of the minimum or maximum average value of one or more chosen parameters of the aforementioned oscillations.
