Для снижения послеоперационного астигматизма при проведении кератопластики формируют ложе роговицы реципиента и донорского трансплантата. Проводят имплантацию интрастромального кольца или двух его сегментов одинаковой длины диаметрально противоположно друг другу. При этом интрастромальное кольцо или его сегменты укладывают на ложе роговицы реципиента, а ложе роговицы реципиента и донорский трансплантат формируют с помощью фемтосекундного лазера, или с помощью лазерной абляции, или механическим путем. Профиль разреза роговицы реципиента и трансплантата при этом имеет ступенчатый вид с диаметром верхнего среза на 1 мм больше диаметра нижнего среза.
