Abstract The present invention provides an oral pharmaceutical composition comprising plurality of units of dabigatran etexilate or salts thereof. By providing such composition which begins to release organic acid before the release of dabigatran or salts thereof, it is possible to reduce interpatient variability that may occur in some cases such as achlorhydria. The composition may provide therapeutically effective plasma concentration to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation when administered to a patient in need thereof.
