PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assisting method in which the comfort of use of an assisted person is improved by using an assisting device for operating a plurality of members by using one actuator. SOLUTION: An arm 3 provided on a base 2 so as to be swingable in the front-rear direction and a support portion provided on the arm 3 so as to be swingable in the front-rear direction by supporting a part of the body of a person being assisted M. Assisted by using an assisting device 1 provided with a fourth, a side supporting portion 45 provided on the supporting portion 4 to support the side of the person being assisted M, and an actuator 5 for swinging the arm 3 and the supporting portion 4. This is an assistance method for assisting the transfer operation of the person M, in which the first step of inserting the side support portion 45 into the side of the person being assisted M in the sitting posture and the actuator 5 swinging only the support portion 4 forward. Then, the side support portion 45 is lowered forward to regulate the movement of the person being assisted M to the rear, and the actuator 5 swings only the arm 3 forward to be supported by the support portion 4. It is provided with a third step of putting the person to be assisted M in the transfer posture.
