#$%^&*AU2018200899A120180222.pdf#####ABSTRACT An analyte monitoring system is disclosed, comprising: an analyte sensor configured for fluid contact with bodily fluid under a skin layer for a monitoring time period an on body unit operatively coupled to the analyte sensor, the on body unit receiving analyte related signals from the analyte sensor and storing the analyte related signals in a memory until a data transfer request is received, the on body unit transmitting a unique identifier associated with the analyte sensor and analyte related data, in a single batch transmission, in response to the data transfer request and a receiver device including a processor, the receiver device providing the data transfer request, and further receiving from the on body unit the analyte related data and the unique identifier in response to the data transfer request wherein the memory includes sufficient capacity to store data acquired over the monitoring time period wherein the on body unit transmits the analyte related signals only in response to the data transfer request and wherein the on body unit is not configured to support real time continuous data communication during the monitoring time period.
