PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a massage machine capable of performing an appropriate therapy without impairing a relaxed state of a person undergoing a therapy by acquiring, prior to a therapy, physical relationship between a seating state of the person undergoing the therapy and therapy object portions within a minimal necessary time without lowering accuracy.SOLUTION: The massage machine moves a detection element of a position detection section forward with respect to a body back surface of the person undergoing the therapy near a seating face to detect the seating position. When the detection element presses the person undergoing the therapy, a control part determines it as an appropriate seating position to transfer to a shoulder position detection. The massage machine acquires vertical positions of the respective therapy object portions on the body back surface of the person undergoing the therapy on the basis of the acquired shoulder positions and uses them as a reference of the therapy, so that, when the person undergoing the therapy sits thereon correctly, even if a clearance is formed between the body back surface near the seating surface and a backrest part, when it is within such a range that the detection element can press the body back surface of the person undergoing the therapy, the massage machine determines that the person undergoing the therapy is in the appropriate seating state. Consequently, the massage machine can perform subsequent processing such as the shoulder position detection without any delay, reliably acquire the position information of the therapy object portions and correctly perform the therapy.
