The present invention relates to a composition for treatment or prevention of infectious inflammatory diseases, or a composition for immune enhancement, comprising a tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase (TrpRS) as an active ingredient and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition for treatment or prevention, a food composition for prevention or improvement, and a veterinary medical composition for prevention or treatment of inflammatory diseases caused by infection, the compositions comprising tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase as an as active ingredient, and a composition for immune enhancement comprising tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase as an as active ingredient. The composition of the present invention may be useful in preventing or treating diseases in humans and animals caused by infections from bacteria, viruses and the like, in particular, by activating the innate immune response to inhibit bacterial infections, viruses etc. in the early stage.
