A method for moisturizing the eye in which an amount of aqueous fluid is administered to the eye in an amount below that which causes flooding of the eye and removal of the normal tear film from the surface of the eye. Preferably, the fluid consists essentially of water. That is, it contains no therapeutically active ingredients, although it may contain non-therapeutic components such as preservatives, lubricants, surfactants, and buffers. The fluid, when administered in accordance with the invention, rehydrates the already present tear fill rather than replacing the tear film. A kit for moisturizing the eye in accordance with the invention is also disclosed.Linvention concerne un procédé dhydratation de loeil consistant à administrer une certaine quantité de fluide aqueux au niveau de loeil, à raison dune dose suffisamment petite pour ne pas noyer loeil et ne pas éliminer le film lacrymal se trouvant normalement à la surface de loeil. De préférence, ledit fluide est essentiellement constitué deau. Il ne contient donc aucun ingrédient actif au plan thérapeutique, même sil renferme des composants non thérapeutiques tels que des conservateurs, des lubrifiants, des tensioactifs et des tampons. Ledit fluide, une fois administré conformément au procédé de linvention, est plutôt censé réhydrater le film lacrymal déjà présent que remplacer celui-ci. Linvention concerne également un kit dhydratation de loeil conformément au procédé de linvention.
