Disclosed are plants having increased content of rebaudioside D and other desirable characteristics, and methods for producing such plants. Rebaudioside D (rebD) has been observed to have the desired sweetening properties, and thus either on a total weight basis of stevia leaves or compared to other glycosides (eg, rebA or stevioside).
