An apparatus for deploying hemostatic clips (702) comprises a shaft connectedto a handle and a control linkage (726) in combination with a magazine (800)containing a plurality of clips arranged in a chain (700), wherein a proximal-most one of the clips is coupled to the control linkage and a distal portionof the magazine is contoured to permit opening of a distal-most one of theclips during a distal stroke of the control linkage and to assist closing andlocking of the distal-most clip during a proximal stroke of the controllinkage . The magazine includes an expanded chamber (810) sized to allowopening in any rotational orientation of a clip immediately proximal to thedistal-most clip to a degree sufficient to disengage the distal-most clip.
