La réaction est effectuée en deux étapes, comprenant : (a) une réaction de métathèse entre une oléfine fonctionnalisée et un aldéhyde insaturé, en présence dau moins un catalyseur particulier choisi parmi les complexes de ruthénium comprenant un ligand 1,3-diaryl-imidazolidin-2-yle et un ligand styrényléther, et (b) la réaction du produit ainsi obtenu avec un sel de triphénylalkylphosphonium.
