PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cultivation method capable of attaining sound growth on the ground, further, yield increase and stabilization while utilizing a generally used capillary water culture device as it is making the best use of the capillary water culture device by supplying sufficient oxygen required for sound growth of roots and suppressing excess absorption of nourishing water, and by satisfactorily growing roots from the early stage of the cultivation while reducing influences from the environment such as changes in temperature and moisture or the like in the rhizosphere. SOLUTION: In a method for cultivating plants by supplying a nutritious liquid in a liquid storage tank through a fibrous material to roots of plants, the roots of the plant are covered with an air-permeable material. Thus, oxygen required for sound growth of the roots is sufficiently supplied, while excess absorption of nourishing water is suppressed and the plant is cultivated with little influences e.g. external temperature and moisture changes on the roots.
