Composition for the prolonged release of trimetazidine wherein the inner phase comprises trimetazidine coated onto a neutral core and the outer layer comprises a retardant and an anti-agglomerant. Where the retardant may be one of ethylcellulose, cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate, cellulose acetate propionate, cellulose acetate phthalate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose acetate succinate and/or polymethacrylates and the anti-agglomerant is one of talc, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, stearic acid and/or sodium fumaryl stearate. The trimetazidine may be coated onto an inert core. The composition may be used for prophylactic treatment of angina pectoris, in the course of chorioretinal disorders and also for the treatment of vertigo of vascular origin.
