A new type of theranostic system based on porous nanobeads with pore-filled gold nanorods (AuRNBs) with exceptionally efficient and stable photoacoustic imaging. The AuRNBs also provided a stable photoacoustic signal and highly efficient hyperthermia effect both in vitro and in vivo, indicating a powerful theranostic modality among other alternatives.
