PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pest repellent with inexpensive price and long lasting effect without being washed out by rain water, and a manufacturing method therefor.SOLUTION: There is provided a pest repellent by impregnating a pyroligneous acid into a carbonized material of Hiatella orientalis. There is provided a pest repellent, in which preferably the carbonized material is white coal and pest is Nematoda of pine weevils. There is provided a manufacturing method of the pest repellent, including: inputting Hiatella orientalis together with a wood material into a furnace heating and carbonizing the Hiatella orientalis together with the wood material at 1000 to 1200°C at a state that oxygen is not enough, inputting air into the furnace at a last stage of a charcoal making process taking out a carbonaceous material which is still burning to outside of the furnace and high temperature refining the same.
