A method of determining information regarding an implanted medical device. The method includes scanning an infrared or near-infrared laser over a target area wherein a medical device (50) having at least one light affective area defined thereon is implanted sensing reflected light from the scanned area processing the reflected light and creating an image which indicates the light affective area based on a difference in the sensed light and displaying the created image. A system (20) for determining information regarding an implanted medical device is also provided.Linvention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer des informations concernant un dispositif médical implanté. Le procédé comprend le balayage dun laser infrarouge ou proche infrarouge sur une zone cible, un dispositif médical (50) ayant au moins une zone réceptive à la lumière définie sur lui étant implanté la détection de la lumière réfléchie à partir de la zone balayée le traitement de la lumière réfléchie et la création dune image qui indique la zone réceptive à la lumière sur la base dune différence dans la lumière détectée et laffichage de limage créée. Linvention concerne également un système (20) afin de déterminer des informations concernant un dispositif médical implanté.
