A cooling structure 600 and a method of cooling a surgical robot arm 300. The surgical robot arm 300 extends from a proximal end attached to a base to a distal end attachable to a surgical instrument via a series of links interspersed by articulations. The cooling structure comprises a loop 501 for circumscribing the surgical robot arm. The loop 501 comprises a hollow interior for feeding cooling fluid through the loop 501, and a series of apertures 505 directed towards the surgical robot arm 300 for discharging cooling fluid from the loop 501 towards the surgical robot arm. The cooling structure further comprises a feeder conduit 502 attached to the loop for feeding coolant from a cooling fluid source to the loop. The arm may include further rings 601 encircling the arm, the further rings 601 having further openings 605 to blow coolant at the arm 300. The cooling structure may be integrated into a drape 700. The loops 501, 601 may be positioned away from the arm 300 by spacer projections 504b, 604b.
