The percutaneous angioplasty device includes a catheter that defines one or more lumens. The filter is coupled to a catheter adjacent to the distal end of the catheter, and the filter is movable between an unexpanded configuration and an expanded configuration by a filter actuation wire extending through the lumen. The expandable balloon is connected to the catheter proximal to the filter and the stent is disposed over at least a portion of the balloon. In order to deploy the stent relative to the target site, the filter is first moved to its expanded position by the filter actuation wire. The stent is then expanded and the balloon is inflated to further expand the stent in the radial direction.
